“The doctor of the future will give little medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.”
Thomas A. Edison
Welcome to Rancho Margot, my name is Adrienne and I will be your guide on this virtual tour of the amazing medicinal plants and trees growing right here on the ranch. At Rancho Margot, part of our commitment to developing a self sustaining community is to promote healthy lifestyles, practice preventative medicine, and develop a working knowledge of medicinal plant remedies. Knowing how to identify, cultivate, and prepare this kind of living medicine to care for the body and mind will be invaluable in developing a long term, self sustained health system for all residents at Rancho Margot. When illness does strike, we will eventually no longer need to run to the pharmacy or clinic for synthesized medications, but can safely and effectively treat ourselves with what nature already provides all around us.
As a ranch resident volunteer, I have collected extensive information about the medicinal herbs that grow so easily in this lush tropical environment. The purpose of this site is to share that information in an organized and interesting way. To navigate this site, select from the drop down menu under “Herb Categories” to see what we have growing on the ranch. To learn what herbs would help for certain health concerns, select from “Ranch Remedies”. I hope guests to the ranch will feel more connected to their surroundings as they walk around the ranch. I hope virtual guests will be interested in visiting the ranch or curious to learn more about these tropical beauties. Enjoy the tour and the fruits of my new found obsession with all things herbaceous.
Pura Vida!
